Dr. Sindell has over 25 years of experience working in and for the financial planning profession and for the goal of financial literacy as a professor, author, speaker and advocate. At the heart of her contributions has been her belief that clearly presented information presented in books, courses, articles and by trained professionals to all citizens regardless of their socio-economic condition, education, race, or gender are fundamental to a healthy society and to individual financial security. She is a Full Professor (Adjunct) at the University of Maryland, University College. She has successfully assisted in securing registered CFP Program approval for the School of Undergraduate Studies (awarded in August 2014). Kathleen Sindell, Ph.D. is an experienced writer and is author of numerous academic, popular, and professional finance articles, Web sites, blogs, proposals, and books, including the bestselling reference books, “The Unofficial Guide to Buying a Home Online”, “Managing Your Money Online for Dummies”, and "Investing Online for Dummies, Eds. 1-5" (listed for two consecutive years on the Wall Street Journal's Bestselling Business Book List). At the request of Irwin Professional Publishing, she converted her dissertation, titled 'A Risk Management Approach for Financial Institutions Holding Construction Loans' to a 520 page book titled, 'The Handbook of Real Estate Lending' (1996). Dr. Sindell is knowledgeable about desktop publishing, graphic design, page layout, and multimedia software. Her most recent book; “Social Security: Maximize Your Benefits” (September 2012) is an on-demand publication available in e-book or print. Sindell completed the graphics, layout and assembly as well as the writing.
