Came over to BAPH after a botched intestinal surgery with one of my last dogs. Dr. Epping did a great job of fixing him up, even though it didn't seem like he would pull thorough post surgery! Miss the fact that the Emergency care clinic is no longer owned by them however it is still connected so any vet dealing with an Emergency issue with any of my pets can look up my dogs records! Cost is much more reasonable compared to Pine Ridge. And more through then many other places I have been. I also do not get judged for the tough decisions I have to make when it comes to my pets health like I have at other clinic, as well as they are up to date on medical research of large breeds and Hip issues and do not PUSH me to spay/neuter my pets before they at 24 months old. Finally a vet that tells you how it is, doesnt beat around the bush, push tests, or judge... Not to mention understands hunting will beat up a dog a little! Yes, I have seen a couple different vets while there, however each one is great at what they do and have their areas that they specialize in, I have also requested certain vets in certain times!

Blaine Area Pet Hospital

I have been going to see Dr. Jay Epping since my parents first brought our family dog in for shots. He is very nice to our cat. She does not seem to mind going to see the doctor knowing she will be well cared for by both him and his staff!

I would never recommend this c...

I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Dr. Epping doesn't explain anything and barely puts a finger on your pet when he's supposed to examine them. Their website tries to portray a caring facility, but the owner is anything but. I felt the prices to be comparable, except for the price of an exam especially when Dr. Epping doesn't really do one! I think the staff does a great job and they take the time to pet and say hello to my pets, but that's not enough to keep my business. Luckily I found a wonderful clinic in the same area with not only very caring and friendly staff, but doctors who take the time to get to know me and my beloved pets.

official vet

also, I forgot to add, they are the vet clinic that the Blaine PD brings their K9 dogs to. There's something to be said about the vet who's earned the trust of the K9 unit!! :)

Outstanding!!!

I have two dogs that I bring to these guys and they are FABULOUS!!! I have an older dog (14) who I've had issues with at other vet clinics. In the past, with other vets, she's been treated rough, or "less important" because she was old. The vets at Blaine Area Pet Hospital have been amazing with her!! And I feel that they value her lift as much at 14 as they do my 2 yrs old!! They are gentle, thorough, and realistic about treatment. They are a little bit more expensive than the last few vet clinics I've been to, but they are WELL WORTH IT!!!!! You definitely DO get what you pay for with them, and more!! As a multiple dog owner (both old and young), I would recommend these guys to anyone!!

I would never go back to this place. All they do is tons of expenisive tests (2x higher than other places) that they say your dog will probably die without. Because they can't treat your pet without these tests. Your put in a life or death situation with your pet. Only to find out your dog is fine and these expensive tests were actually not nessessary! Dr. Epping is uncaring and does'nt explain things that are important to know. The staff although is friendly and good with animals.

My least favorite Vet

I had 2 disapointing visits to this hospital. One was with my troubled dog in which they told my mother to put him down after he had ate "gunk" from our pond. We didn't like their attitudes about putting him down so we went to the University of Minnesota and they "fixed" our puppy after two/three days, he is now alive and good! Then my family went to them with my cat who was attacked by the neighbor's dog and after they made us spend a ton of money to do tests and keep the cat overnight they told us that our cat needed an amputation for his back leg. We decided to go to a different Vet Clinic and they said the exact opposite of what the Blaine hospital said! My cat didn't need an amputation after all, it's been a year and that same cat has 4 working legs! Our family made up our minds and we are NEVER going to this Vet Hospital again, we were very disapointed.

Over priced and unstable for your pet

We have been switched three different times to different vets in this clinic. They seem to come and go pretty fast there. Dr Jay Epping is the vet we started with. He seemed to be good, but he soon disappeared from the scene. He was still at the clinic, but it seems he picks and chooses the animals he wants to see. If its not yours you get pushed off to who ever happens to work there at the time. No stability for you or your pet. Especially hard when you pet has an on going health problem. After our last visit there we finally made the decision to find a new vet. The latest vet we saw at the clinic is test happy. We ended up with a 500 dollar bill the last time we were in because she said our dogs had to be tested for several different things she was sure they had. It turned out they were just fine. Our pocketbook wasn't. Today we brought our dog to a different vet in the area. The office visit was half the cost of Blaine's and the medication our dog has been taking for the past four years was way less expensive. Blaine area pet hospital charged us THREE TIMES what the new vet charged us. If you decide to go to this vet be aware that you will be over charged, over tested and passed around.
