I was there last night 3/21/14 and the place was empty. Most of the music was not very danceable at all. I would not recommend this place as the drinks are way over priced especially the bottle prices. They need find ways to attract the crowd.

This place the owners are not friendly and wont even say hi to you when you talk to them. The DJ plays the same music each night you can memorize the play list. I will not go there anymore because of the rude treatment to me by the owners

We find swing/lindy dance venues all over the world and frequent Swing 46, The Cotton Club etc because we live in the NYC area. Initally reluctant about Platforms because it suggests 1970s disco music and that's not our interest, it seems they offer a good variety of music styles on different nights of the week. When I first walked in the stripper pole on the upper level seemed a little creepy, but after that the place is just fun. The night we were there they had Frankie Manning in HellsA Poppin playing on the tv screens along with many other great moments in Lindy. If you don't know Lindy, check out Frankie on youtube -- he invented Lindy in Harlem's Savoy nightclub in the 1930s. Even if you only like hiphop, if you can't appreciate this, you're just wrong. Anyway, the decor at Platforms is fun, the crowd is friendly and there is tons of room to dance, even if the black and white dance floor is full. Two talented warm and enthusiastic dance teachers were available throughout the night -- dancers of all levels were very welcome on the dance floor -- and seriously, some people had never tried swing dancing before and had a blast. As always with a lindy crowd, tons of young people (because it is so athletic) mix with people from that generation who know their way around a dance floor -- walk right in and feel at home.

Well, it's advertised as a 60s...

Well, it's advertised as a 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s dance club.

First off, the crowd is of the old variety...like ancient old. I'm 23 and there was definitely a "pedophile uncle" vibe about the place. Every dude seemed to have the same club uniform. "I'll wear a button down with the top four buttons undone to show off my chest hair and gold chains!"

Now let me clue you in on the music. Although they claim to play 60s. 70s, 80s, and 90s music the only songs I heard were 70s b-sides and BeeGees hits. The DJ spinning the night we went was named DJ Anna Marie, cool DJ name...NOT

I kept telling myself that I'd give it a few more songs and then decide if I wanted to stay and then DJ Anna Marie started booming "I had the time of my life". Well, all I can say is THAT was a deal breaker.

So what can I say? It's a joint for people who escaped the old folks home. The music is pretty terrible and it looks like it was decorated by the same people who decorate Mexican Restaurants.

Great place! Lots of fun but ...

Great place! Lots of fun but not enough 80's music! Mostly 70's. Didn't know a lot of the songs but everyone else did. Older crowd! Supposed to be 70,80, and 90's. Didn't hear one 90's song.
