General Info
Massachusetts Food Association represents and promotes the interests of the Commonwealth's grocery and supermarket industry and serves as its unified voice, advocating on behalf of its members and providing a balanced perspective and clear information regarding issues affecting both the industry and the public at large. About MFA MFA's responsibility to its members is to influence the social and political environment in which the state's food industry operates to create a better understanding of the nature of our business, and to impact legislative and regulatory decisions that affect the manner in which your business is conducted. We review all legislation filed for each session, and monitor all governmental/regulatory action that may affect the food industry. MFA is the leading voice in the regulatory arena for the entire food distribution industry in Massachusetts. We work with all regulatory agencies on your behalf to make sure that your business stays in compliance and is aware of all local, state and federal issues. MFA's participation in state advisory committees and boards includes the Department of Public Health, WIC, and the Department of Transitional Assistance ( food stamps ). MFA is your legislative watchdog on Beacon Hill. We represent your interests and views and lobby for and against all proposals that could affect your business, from workers compensation to pricing, to the bottle law to food safety, MFA is there all the way to look out for your concerns and works with a talented group of members who participate on our Government Affairs Committee to give direction and guidance. MFA's Info-network provides a speedy and efficient system with which to communicate with our members. With the establishment of our fax and email networks, MFA members are notified immediately of any legislative and regulatory issues that can affect your bottom line. We also work closely with Food Marketing Institute and participate in their grassroots outreach program. Don't be left out of the loop! MFA keeps you informed not only through our Info-network but also through our website at mafood.com. The website offers members access to a wide variety of important information with links to member sites. Access to privileged information such as our membership listing is obtained through the use of a secret members-only password. It also allows members to view MFA's fact sheets, legislative wrap-ups, our bulletin and other important information that can help your business and keep you as up to date as possible on all legislative and regulatory issues that affect the food industry. MFA is your information resource for any legislative and regulatory industry questions that you may have concerning the food business. We are here to answer your inquiries, or put you in touch with the government agencies to resolve issues that may arise during your day-to-day course of business.
