- General Info
- A brain injury is a sudden event that can change a life. Whether it's a mild injury that simply requires rest and monitoring or a serious traumatic injury that can result in serious permanent disabilities, traumatic brain injuries ( TBIs ) are physical injuries to the brain that require expert, specialized assessment and treatment to ensure best long-term outcome Brain Injury Association of Michigan ( BIAMI ) is here to help. We provide, and support groups to brain injury survivors their families, and the people who serve them. Prevention information is provided in communities across Michigan. The BIAMI is a non-profit organization that brings together people with brain injury, their families, friends and concerned professionals to improve the quality of life that people experience after brain injury. Nearly 30 years ago, a group of concerned families living with brain injuries founded the BIAMI to ensure that services and support were available for people with brain injuries and their families. Incorporated in 1981, the BIAMI was one of the first state associations chartered by Brain Injury Association of America. Today, thanks to Michigan's system of automotive no-fault insurance and other factors, our state is fortunate to have one of the country's largest and most comprehensive statewide networks of research, treatment and support services for people with brain injuries and their families.
