Mountain Island Elementary School provides learning opportunities to students in kindergarten through grade five. Its computerized accelerated reader program motivates and enriches reading abilities of students. The school s accelerated math curriculum focuses on problem solving strategies, technology integration, computation mastery, mathematical investigations and daily usage of hands-on materials. It also provides instruction in social studies, science and character education, as well as organizes curriculum-based field trips. Mountain Island Elementary School offers a balanced reading program that provides basic instruction in phonics, language development, comprehension and writing to students.
