General Info

As a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I specialize in both the aesthetic and functional treatment of the face and neck. Our face is the first part of us that a person notices, and it conveys many nonverbal messages such as age, gender and emotion. A person's face is constructed of incredibly complex structures, including detailed musculature that control expressions, unique skin composition, and distinctive features that identify us as human such as the nose, lips and the ears. All of these function in unison for a harmonious appearance that is individual and instantly recognizable, even to infants. Unfortunately, we aren't always pleased with the face we are putting forward (whether that be from trauma, cancer, aging, paralysis or myriad other causes). This is where my team and I come in! Nothing is more fulfilling to me than helping my patients achieve their most confident appearance through both surgical and nonsurgical techniques. And sometimes our goal is not to alter the appearance, such as with functional rhinoplasty or cancer reconstruction. I work tirelessly to develop individualized treatment plans with patients to achieve their goals with impeccable results. Treating my patients with respect and compassion is of utmost importance to me, and every day I look forward to hearing about their lives and the experiences that brought them into the office. I was first drawn to this career when investigating the new and impressive techniques that are available for restoration of function following facial paralysis. I quickly learned that every aspect of the field was both interesting and rewarding. I'm especially interested in building a facial gender-affirming center to help patients' outward expression match their inner identity. This is an area that's relatively underrepresented in the Midwest, and we would like to make Ohio State Wexner Medical Center a center of excellence in this area.
