Very disappointed

I have been going to paint your own pottery for years and just this last time I was very disappointed. I going into the store and nobody is there to help us. It was another 10 minutes until was helped. I ask the lady (who is the store owner) if she happened to have a pot I did a year ago because they had never called me to say it was finished. Then the lady goes into this rant about how lucky I am that it was so good she kept it as a sample. So me and my girls sit down and start painting. We all were painting very big dishes so we needed to use a lot of paint. So I go up to get more paint with one of my girls and the lady tells me that she is going to start charging me for paint (which is included in the studio fee and the price of the dish.) Both of my girls were afraid to get more paint. We are half way done with our painting when she comes up to me and tells me that she is closing at 4 so we have to be out in 15 minutes. The original closing time was at 7 so she was closing 3 hours early! I was so frustrated and just wanted to leave without paying. So we hurry up to finish our masterpieces and she charges us for the paint and then foes on harassing me about coming and picking up the pieces. It has been 2 months and I still haven't gotten a call to come and get. Worst experience ever and never going back.

Overpriced, Snobby & Unpredictable

This place is a total rip off and not worth the time traveling there to see whether they feel like being open or closed. When I first went there with my mother (who was visiting from out of town), I was excited because it was the first night I had been out of the house since my son was born 6 months ago; it was my first "girls night out." This place made it a point to advertise that they have extended hours on Friday & Saturday until 9pm. So, I tucked my son into bed early and headed to the paint-your-own-ceramics shoppe with my mom. It was a Friday night and we arrived at 7:45. A snobby, coed clerk looked annoyed when we walked in and told us that she was going to close up for the night. This puzzled me, especially since there was a customer sitting in the shop painting, but I was not about to leave given the fact that the sign on the door said they were open until 9 and this was a rare opportunity for me to hang out alone with my mom. The girl decided to let us stay and acted as if she was doing us a favor. We each chose one small ceramic to paint so we didn't run over an hour. The girl squirted 6 drops of paint into a rinky-dink tray and seated us at a table full of crusty paint brushes (the bristles were worn down and gnawed). When we finished, the girl handed me a bill for $50! I was floored, but what could I do--we already painted the figurines, so I paid it. A week later, they left me a phone message saying my ceramics were ready for pick up. I phoned ahead to confirm their hours of operation. Then I headed over with my husband and son. When we got there, the store was closed. I thought, maybe there's some sort of emergency and they needed to close the shop, so I'll come back the next day. When I went again (this time lugging only my son along), the store was closed again. A lady and her two young daughters also showed up when I did and were disappointed to see the shop closed. This was so annoying that I really thought about just leaving them there and forgetting the whole thing, but then I remembered that I paid $50 for those dollar-store-looking figurines. Who knows when I'll get in there to claim my overpriced ceramics? But I certainly would never do this little project again, because it's not the simple, family-style place it appears to be. I would not recommed this place to anyone--especially someone with a kid. It's just too expensive a craft and the hours are too unpredictable to suit children.
