- Oral Cancer ScreeningIn order to properly treat you as a patient, an accurate assessment must be made of your presenting dental condition. To begin with we thoroughly review your medial history to ensure we treat you safely and properly, evaluate your TMJ, and perform an oral cancer screening.
- Teeth CleaningBrushing your teeth three times a day with a fluoride toothpaste and daily flossing, in combination with professional teeth cleaning is recommended to maintain optimal health and functioning. We will recommend the appropriate frequency for your cleanings based on your individual needs.
- Fluoride TreatmentOne of the most proven public health measures in the history of medicine is the use of fluoride to help prevent dental decay. Nearly all people with natural teeth should use toothpaste containing fluoride. For children and adolescents under the age of 15, an annual application of prescription strength fluoride should be applied to their teeth in the office. In addition, an American Dental Association approved fluoride toothpaste is recommended to keep their teeth healthy and free of decay. As part of our Preventative Program, adults with a high decay rate or exaggerated tooth sensitivity receive a prescription fluoride varnish as well in office. A prescription strength fluoride paste for take home use (Fluoridex) is often prescribed in addition.
- Dental SealantsAll teeth develop from 5 individual growth centers. Where these developmental centers meet form the pits, fissures and grooves of a tooth. These natural pits and grooves are susceptible to decay as once the normally occurring bacteria in the mouth invade these hard to get to recesses, tooth decay forms. The pits, fissures and groves are typically more prominent on the bicuspid and molar teeth. Consequently, it is these back teeth that should receive sealants to prevent the bacteria from developing decay. Following placement of dental sealants, the potential for cavities to develop in those groves is eliminated or significantly reduced.

- VeneersPorcelain veneers can be utilized to change the shape, color, or size of a single tooth or for an entire smile makeover. Veneers are thin sculpted pressed porcelain which fit over and around your teeth. They are adhered to your teeth utilizing a chemical bonding technique.
- CrownsThere are a variety of materials used to crown teeth, In the past porcelain fused to metal or gold crowns were used extensively. Today my practice has incorporated all ceramic crowns. They are durable as well as beautiful and typically require less tooth preparation. Since I no longer take impressions and have incorporated 3 Shape Digital Impressions into my practice, many of my crowns are fabricated using CAD/CAM technology increasing the accuracy and longevity of our crowns.
- BridgesWhen a missing tooth needs to be replaced, a fixed bridge is an alternative for treatment to be considered. In essence, the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth need to be crowned. To those crowns a replacement tooth or teeth is attached. The entire prosthesis, crowns and replacement teeth are then cemented in place. Fixed bridges are not removable and proved an esthetic durable alternative to replace missing teeth.

- Root Canal TreatmentThe pulp is very easily damaged and unfortunately has a relatively low potential to repair itself once damaged. Excessive decay, fractures and trauma all have the ability to expose the pulp allowing bacteria to enter. Once the bacteria enter the pulp an irreversible irritation followed by infection of the pulp takes place. Subsequently the abscess that develops can cause pain, swelling, inability to comfortably chew your food and depending on the location, a possible life threatening infection. Once the pulp is sufficiently irritated or infected a root canal must be performed.
- Deep CleaningThe initial treatment of gum disease involves removal of the plaque and hard deposits (tartar) that has accumulated on your teeth and roots. I will first administer a local anesthetic and then one of our Registered Dental Hygienists will perform a scaling and root planning of the effected teeth. A majority of times this conservative procedure will resolve the infection. If not, due to the extent of the presenting bone loss, a referral to a periodontist will be made. No treatment of gingivitis or periodontitis will be successful without the patient’s acceptance of the role they played in developing the disease by inefficiently performing plaque removal. Without a commitment by the patient to perform daily efficient plaque removal, their periodontal therapy will fail.
- DenturesIn many cases, it would be a shame to have to prepare perfectly healthy teeth adjacent to a missing tooth just to replace one tooth. Additionally, following many years of bone loss due to chronic periodontal disease, frequently the retention of full dentures is compromised as the support (bone) for stability has been lost.

- Tooth ExtractionsIf your tooth extraction required a surgical procedure and you have stitches please return on the appointed date for their removal. Otherwise follow the above instructions with the exception of brushing the extraction area until the stitches are removed.
- OrthodonticsWhen impressions are taken for orthodontics, additional time is added to the process, as the impressions must be shipped to the specific company. In addition, the potential to lose the impressions in transit, necessitating the retaking of the impressions is eliminated. The scans are delivered in a fraction of a second which tremendously accelerates the case. Over the years we have had great success with each of the above clear aligner systems. We evaluate each case on an individual basis to see which system would be appropriate for you.

- Teeth WhiteningOver time tooth discoloration takes place from exposure to foods and liquids that contain dark pigments. Wine, soda, pigmented foods, coffee, tea and of course smoke byproducts are adsorbed into teeth and darken them. Recently the high acidic trends in our diet as well as medical conditions such a GERD can erode our enamel. As the enamel thins, the darker inner layer of dentin starts to show its true darker color. Whitening is a safe and effective method to brighten your smile.
