      I got insurance in the first place so my children did not need to put money out for me down the tube, which can happen when youre past 70. No matter how broke I was, I knew I had to maintain it for my children. I lost my sense of balance in 2008 and could not function on a walker I needed someone to be nearby for 8 hrs for my bath and getting dressed. I couldnt walk more than a few feet without grabbing on to something or falling . I took advantage of a discount in a fabulous place I found in WA. We have entertainment, bingo, lots of programs, physical and occupational therapy. I now can walk 100 yards without a walker. My long term care insurer has been absolutely fabulous and worked with the administration here; payments have been worked out. I would be I dont know where Id be right now without the Long Term Care Insurance, probably with one of my kids they have no place for me.       When my wife became very ill with pulmonary fibrosis she needed home care. Enter our insurer. We had a wonderful caring and professional nursing aide attend her four hours a day. Your LTC insurance paid for her. She needed a wide variety of supplies. Your LTC insurance paid for them. Your LTC insurance covered everything. But it was not that they simply covered Patricias needs, it was the concerned, helpful, and prompt way they did it that impressed us so much. From Patricias initial evaluation from a nurse you sent to our house to evaluate her to the wonderful case worker who stayed in touch with us consistently, our LTC insurance company, including you, could not have been nicer or more efficient. Your program made my wifes last days infinitely more comfortable, and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you so much. Sincerely, Lt. Col. Alvin E. C.

      "Words cannot describe how much I have appreciated Barbara Hanson's help over the past twenty years. She is a great resource for all aspects of long-term care planning... a walking encyclopedia. You will not feel you are being sold a product, but talking to a friend. She will provide accurate information you need and even direct you to other vendors when appropriate. Recently I was in a muddle and she homed like a laser, pointing me in directions I hadn't thought of and promising further research. All this when I cannot even use any product she sells!       As one client said, punching her fist in the air, "I am getting this insurance for Dignity and Independence--to the End!" My mission is to ensure we all have that Dignity and Independence, no matter what. Of the over 200 LTC insurance claims used so far by my clients, none of my claimants had to go to a nursing home for their care when they had comprehensive LTC insurance. They stayed at home, used their insurance coverage for home modifications, extra help, and equipment to make their family caregiver's lives easier. Costs for LTC care are from $15 to $25/hr for homecare, $3000-$7000/month for assisted living or $6000 and up for a nursing home.
