This was, by far, the worst experience we have ever had with a contractor. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
We hired Lasco through the “Good Contractor List” (who refused to intervene on our behalf because they only guarantee the “finished product”) on 10/20/2017 to do a bathroom remodel, at which time we gave them a check for 1/2 of the cost of the project ($6145.37) which we were told was going to be used to order supplies. After numerous excuses, on 1/15/2018 two workers finally showed up and completely demolished the bathroom (removed the shower, sinks, and toilet, so the bathroom was not usable). No more work was done until 2/7/2018 when I got a text asking the name and size of the tile, even though they had our six thousand dollars for 4 months, not to mention the fact that the project should have been finished by this time according to their own schedule. The cabinet, countertop, and sinks had not been ordered either! Workers showed up sporadically and did only a small amount of work. The company did not answer emails or texts and did not return phone calls. The project was not completed until 3/16/2018! Even at that time, there were gouges in the sheetrock from where the previous sink had been removed and the transitions between the tile and carpets were so mangled that they ended up putting on a cheap wood threshold to cover it up. The cabinet is poor quality with uneven stain on the veneers, old-style standard extension slides on the drawers that slam shut very easily (not smooth glide, like most drawers are made now) and there weren’t even felt pads or bumpers on the cabinet doors (I had to go buy some at Home Depot and put them on myself). Supposedly, in the end, we were given “upgraded” granite and not charged for the tile design.
I would recommend hiring ANY OTHER CONTRACTOR before hiring They claim to have AAA+ rating with the BBB but they do NOT – check for yourself.
Lasco came out to my house on a Monday, and I asked them in person, face to face, if they worked on 203k loan houses, they said yes. So I allowed him to take all the measurements he needed (he was thorough with this process, concluding only after two hours). I asked when the itemized budget would be done, he said Thursday at the latest. I called Thursday because I had heard nothing. I called Mike Leroy and he said "Oh, we don't do 203k loans, your project isn't something we want to do." I don't understand why he could not call me before Thursday, and let me know this. When buying a home, every single day counts, and Mike Leroy costed me four days, which could also cost me the house. When I called the business, and I talked to the Vice President he said "Thank you for voicing your frustration" but did not offer another Project Manager, or a solution or lending hand to help me find another general contractor. I feel as though I was not valued or cared for as a human being at this company.
LASCO is a company that I would recommend to any of my friends and family. They offer complete service from beginning to end. Just a top notch company!
