Wonderful martial arts school. Lousy contract. BEWARE.



When you sign the contract you DO NOT have a contract with Elite Tae Kwon Do; you are contracted to Member Solutions Inc. So anything Master Kim told you is worthless.



I was told that I was making monthly payments on a Black Belt program. After 33 months the program was paid for. It takes more than 33 months to earn a black belt, so once the program cost was paid in full, my children would continue attending until they earned the black belt.



I was also told that if a child quit, I would not get a refund on previous payments, but I could stop paying on the program.



Well after 24 payments, one of the kids decided they had too many obligations from their AP classes and wanted to quit. I called Member Solutions to reduce the payments. I was informed my contract could not be cancelled or changed!



It's pointless to talk to the folks at Elite Tae Kwon Do because they are not parties to the contract. They can't alter it, and anything they told you when they sold you the contract is irrelevant.



Upon examining my contract more closely I realize I was an idiot to ever sign this thing! It is a particularly egregious gym membership, one with no means of termination.



So please, ignore what ETKD tells you about the contract. You will be making ALL the payments whether your kids attend or not. If you lose your job, you cannot terminate the contract. There are only three methods to cancel. 1 - DEATH, 2 - PERMANENT DISABILITY (Temporary disability only gets you more time to pay.) or 3 - RELOCATE more than 25 miles from their location..



If I had to do it over again I would refuse to sign the contract unless I had a cancellation procedure included, say a termination fee of a set amount of $100. If they can't specifically add that to the contract, it's just too big of a risk! Too many things might happen in the 33 months.
