General Info
Matt Esperon, O.D. graduated from the University of California San Diego in 1999 with a degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience and then from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2003 through a US Navy scholarship. He is experienced in vision therapy, ocular surface disease, and retinal disease through internships at the SUNY University Optometric Center Vision Therapy and Ocular Disease Centers, and through the St. Alban's VA Hospital.

We were patients of Dr Berman's for years. Unfortunately the care and concern died with him. Had an emergency today and they did nothing and don't care. So much for loyalty! We have cash to pay but will never give them another $. Luckily we found an eye Dr who actually cares! Happily paying them. Don't let this happen to you. Look for a caring doctor before you're in trouble and they put you throu needless aggravation.#commoncourtesy

Great eye center. Dr. Esperon always makes his patients feel comfortable and is never late. He is very good about seeing his patients in a timely manor.
Friendly and competent staff. Nice selection of frames.
The optical staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I think they have a nice variety of eye wear.
We love their selection of glasses. My son and I both have glasses from here and we never have any problems- if for some reason we need some adjusting their techs are always great about help!
Based on all the positive reviews I read, I was really excited to visit Dr. Berman. I was sorely disappointed. Dr. Berman was rude, condescending, and had absolutely no bedside manner.
1 - He made a point of making me feel bad about the fact that I was trying to stay within the coverage of my insurance, because I refused optional parts of the exam that I would have to pay for myself. Which I would be unable to do. He made claims that my insurance wouldn't cover any of the exam - when in fact he was wrong.
2 - He rushed me through the exam, barely giving me a moment to choose between the options that would determine my prescription. When I asked him to slow down, he didn't even acknowledge that I had spoken and continued at his pace.
3 - He repeatedly left the room in the middle of my exam without ever saying a word to me. And at one point came back into the room with his next patient while I was still sitting in the chair. He basically told me that I was done and I could leave.
In the end, I was not comfortable that the prescription he wrote was correct. He did not even offer a trial pair to check that it was correct. Bottom line - he was unfriendly, unaccommodating, and downright rude.
This was my first and last time visiting this facility.
I've seen both doctors before, they're so caring and friendly here. I like the personality of the staff and can't think of anything that I don't like!
Dr. Esperon spends a good amount of time with me and is very thorough. I never leave appointments with questions unanswered.
