      Hitchcock Press had its beginning in Holyoke, Massachusetts over one hundred years ago when Wisly Company was founded. Most of their business was in the Holyoke area ; much of it with the many thriving paper mills that lined the Paper City's canal system at the time. Most of their work was letterpress printed using hand set type but electrotype and photo engraved plates were also used. They were also known for their lithographic printing where heavy litho stones were used. Those stones were hand engraved and fine details were possible ; limited only by the skill of the engraver. The company changed ownership in 1956 and was renamed Hitchcock Press. In 1971, J. Guy Gaulin purchased the business. He brought substantial offset and letterpress printing experience to the business as well as high standards of quality and service. Those standards have remained the keystone of the organization's philosophy. Today Hitchcock Press produces high quality sheet-fed offset and Fine Letterpress printing. Our offset printing ranges from one-color to four-color process printing with size up to 28"x40". We also produce a variety of manufactured paper items. Our letterpress printing equipment is the finest around. Our recent addition of a showroom quality Heidelberg KSBA "The Rolls Royce of Letterpresses" to our substantial letterpress equipment line up and the complete new layout of our letterpress area rounds out our letterpress printing capabilities. Our pressmen have been trained to Guy's high standards of craftsmanship and are among the finest letterpress printers around. Our letterpress offering ranges from business cards to upscale wedding invitations. We work with designers around the country and abroad to letterpress their designs. Our Fine Letterpress Printing, up to 18" x 28", ranges from Business Cards to Upscale Wedding Invitations. The precise registration of our presses allows for the letterpress printing of work in as many colors as desired. Our professional staff is focused on our customers' needs and consists of Claudine Edwards, Customer Service ; Deanna Gaulin, Vice President ; and J. Guy Gaulin, President. They are supported by a skilled and experienced group of employees second to none. Guy, our president, ensures that this collective skill, experience, and professionalism remain focused on our customers' needs. Guy began his long Graphic Arts career as a letterpress printer when the craft flourished. Over the years his devotion to craftsmanship never wavered.
