General Info
The Ginger Man was founded by Bob Precious after reading J.P. Donleavy’s, The Ginger Man. The novel is about an American’s bawdy indiscretions while studying at Trinity College, Dublin. Bob, a man whose life bore some resemblance to the rapscallion from The Ginger Man, saw a need for quality draft beer in a pub similar to those described in the novel. The Ginger Man first took root in Houston, Texas in the year of 1985. With overwhelming success, it spread throughout The Lone Star State. In the midst of it all, Bob and his family relocated to Manhattan. As he settled and brought quality beer and Texas hospitality to the Northeast, he realized that we would be unable to give the time that was needed to run the Texas locations. With the guidance of longtime patron, friend and advisor, Dr. Rick, Bob sold the original locations in 2000. Today, the ginger man operates in Las Colinas, Texas with the same spirit in which it was founded. The pub features an inviting bar with over 100 beers. The Ginger Man was founded by Bob Precious after reading J.P. Donleavy’s, The Ginger Man.
