Without a doubt Choice Medical Transport is the most pathetic transport organization I've ever had the displeasure of hiring. My father is blind and extremely anxious. Does not walk well at all and requires a wheelchair. Their 1PM scheduled pickup showed up at 2:30PM. I called every 20 minutes because each time I called they told me "8-10 more minutes" Lie upon lie. The driver, who was very nice, said "they never even told me about the pickup until 1:45PM" and was extremely apologetic. I then called the company at 7PM to confirm the scheduled 8PM return trip. They apologized and said the driver was running late and he would be here at 9PM. An hour late this time. I called at 8PM to confirm the 9PM pickup and they told me "sorry, it could be well after 9...even 10-10:30PM" I am LIVID!!! I paid 360 dollars for this service and they can;t tell me what time they will pick up my disabled father for the hour long trip home??? An absolutely disgusting display of customer service. I will never use them again and will tell everyone I know to NEVER US THIS COMPANY!!!

I honestly don't know how Choice Medical Transport can be given the title as one of "Long Island's Best". It's a total farce. I had to find out the hard way today. The driver who came to retrieve my grandmother (she's 93 years old, a stroke victim, has Lukemia, Anemia, and Alzheimers) from her Doctor's appointment today came alone when she require's a two-man lift back up into her first floor apartment which has 4 steps up. The driver then proceeded to assume that I was going to be assisting him. Instead of putting her into the ambulette fisrt, he kept her out behind the van with engine running and the heavy exhaust fumes blowing in our faces (I asked him why there was such a strong smell and he responded that the van needed a tune-up. Wonderful. Strike one.) until I reminded him that it would be best to get her out of the inclement weather we experienced today in Nassau County. When he tried to contact his dispatcher he could not get through, so I called and they assured me that one of his colleagues would be meeting us at my grandma's home to assist with getting her back into the house. I asked the driver to please shut his engine off but he refused telling me that he couldn't operate the hydraulic lift otherwise. (I have operated such vehicles and know for a FACT that they can operate off of the vehicles battery. I stated this to him and he then said that the battery of the van needs to be replaced. (strike 2).

I am MOST upset about the total lack of safety precaution this man and his colleague took while bringing my grandma up a concrete walkway step. This should be done by rolling the patient backwards when in a standard wheelchair. She uses a transport wheelchair which is lightweight and the only type that will fit through her entrance/exit. He pushed her foot first without securing her feet on the leg supports and could have seriously injured her and had he fall forward while the other "helper" stood by doing nothing. I yelled STOP because if he kept going he could have broken both of her ankles. I now KNOW why this man who operated vehicle 412 on June 13, 2013 did not wear his name tag.

As a para-healthcare professional, I know some things that other family members might not have noticed and the lack of training and the potential danger this man put my grandmother in was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I am truly disgusted to have waited over an hour for a return pick up and then the endangerment of my grandmas safety. The better business bureau will be hearing about this incident as well.

ALWAYS use a company that has come recommended to you before booking a transportation appointment for your loved ones. If you can't get a recommendation, do some online research or ask one of their doctors who they know is a legitimate company who practices safety procedures and won't send out vehicles that they know need to be serviced by a mechanic.
