- X-raysThe second educational opportunity is a School Tour of our office. Preschool and kindergarten children can have a fun, enjoyable time exploring our facilities, becoming familiar with the dental environment, and learning interesting nutritional and preventative information. The tour usually begins with an introduction to dental care by Dudley the Dinosaur. Then comes a walk through the x-ray room, which alleviates apprehension for their first dental x-rays. Children enjoy our hands-on approach to touring the dental office. This will give them a chance to take a ride in the chair and view how the equipment works. To book an in-office school tour, please contact our "Show and Tell" coordinator.
- Teeth CleaningAt Janesville Pediatric Dental Care, we provide all facets of pediatric dental care, including preventative dental cleanings, sealants, restorative dentistry and hospital outpatient dentistry with general anesthesia.
- Fluoride TreatmentDental check-ups on a regular basis are a very important part of maintaining your child's teeth and establishing good habits for diet and home care. The frequency of your visits is based upon your child's needs and oral health. During your visit, we will update the medical history, check your child's teeth for cavities, review oral hygiene instructions and diet and evaluate your child for developing orthodontic needs. Fluoride treatments are provided and home fluoride rinses or tablets are prescribed when needed and appropriate.
- Dental SealantsSealants are highly effective in preventing tooth decay on the biting surfaces of chewing teeth. Sealants are a simple procedure in which a clear or tooth-colored acrylic "coating" is painted onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively "seals" the deep grooves where decay is most likely to begin. This technique is usually done on permanent molars as soon as they have erupted enough to be sealed. Sometimes, primary molars have grooves deep enough to require sealing as well. At less than half the cost of conventional filling, without any anesthetic or drilling, sealants are one of the most important preventative tools we have.
- Space MaintainersIf a primary molar is lost early, a space maintainer will be necessary to hold that space open until the permanent tooth is ready to come through. In some cases, the space maintainer may be needed for as long as ten years. Without space maintainers, crowding and the need for braces is almost always the end result. We Accept New Patients!

- CrownsFor small cavities in primary molars, simple fillings may be all that is necessary. However, in the case of primary teeth, enough of the tooth may have been lost that a filling may not be enough to save the tooth. In cases like this, a pediatric stainless steel crown is placed to maintain the tooth and its space maintaining function, until the tooth would normally be lost. Primary front teeth may be restored with tooth-colored filling material or a stainless steel crown with tooth-colored material as a facing, to improve the appearance. The severity of the tooth decay will determine which of the treatments is best.

- PulpotomyDental caries (cavities) and traumatic injury are the main reasons for a tooth to require pulp therapy. Pulp therapy is often referred to as a "nerve treatment", "children's root canal", "pulpectomy" or "pulpotomy". The two common forms of pulp therapy in children's teeth are the pulpotomy and pulpectomy.
- Root Canal TreatmentA pulpectomy is required when the entire pulp is involved (into the root canal(s) of the tooth). During this treatment, the diseased pulp tissue is completely removed from both the crown and root. The canals are cleansed, disinfected and, in the case of primary teeth, filled with a resorbable material. Then, a final restoration is placed. A permanent tooth would be filled with a non-resorbing material.

- OrthodonticsI have worked in the dental field for over 20 years. Most of this time has been working in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. I really enjoy working with children and find it very rewarding. Many times children are nervous and reluctant when they start going to the dentist. Watching their confidence build and having them look forward to visiting us is an amazing process to be part of. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jim, and our children, Katelyn and Matthew. We spend our free time watching the kids in their various activities, boating, snowmobiling and traveling.
