The Public Works department is operated by the City of Laredo in Texas. The department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of the city s roads and sewer and water systems. It has more than 1,300 miles of water mains and over 1,100 miles of sewer line. The department maintains nearly 80 lift stations. The Public Works department has up to 37,000 service connections. It serves up to 32,800 garbage customers and also maintains disposal plants. In addition, the department offers paving, street cleaning and milling services. The City of Laredo operates through health, fire, finance, engineering and public works departments.
