- Dental ExaminationThe bad news about periodontal disease is that it leads to the eventual loss of your teeth. In fact, by far most adult tooth loss is due to periodontal disease, not tooth decay. The good news is that in many cases it is preventable. That’s why Dr. Szarek makes periodontal screenings an important part of your regular examinations and we emphasize patient education and disease prevention. We want you to keep your natural teeth all your life.

- VeneersAre you self-conscious about your smile? There are a variety of procedures available to improve your smile, including professional whitening, dental bonding, and porcelain veneers.
- CrownsPorcelain crowns placed by Dr. Michael Szarek are visually indistinguishable from the surrounding natural teeth. That’s because he has years of advanced training in porcelain restorative techniques and works with world-renowned ceramist Mike Bellerino to create high-quality crowns that are both natural-looking and durable.
- BridgesPatients who only need individual teeth replaced might also prefer dental implants to the placement of a ceramic dental bridge. Unlike bridges, implants do not require any preparation or alteration of adjacent teeth. You can read more on our site about dental implants versus a bridge for replacing missing teeth.

- Root Canal TreatmentRegular cleanings and good home care can prevent destructive gum disease. Smart diet choices and regular brushing and flossing can help prevent tooth decay. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent small cavities from becoming root canal treatments and crowns. And when dental work is performed with expertise and close attention to detail, it can last for many years, preventing costly repairs and redos.
- Deep CleaningDid you know that when you have gum disease you should have what is called a deep cleaning, rather than a routine cleaning? Many dental offices overlook that because it is extra trouble to fit those different types of cleanings into the schedule, and it is also more trouble to get patients to appreciate periodontal treatment because the effects aren’t usually apparent for many years. But Dr. Szarek believes that this is an important part of your treatment.
- DenturesBecause dental implants are rooted in the patient’s jawbone, they are much stronger than removable dentures and function like natural teeth. Studies have shown that many, if not most, denture wearers are dissatisfied with the fit of their appliances and often experience a significant loss of chewing function because dentures essentially “float” on the gumline and rely on adhesive to keep them in place.
- Dental ImplantsThe actual dental implant consists of a small titanium cylinder that is placed through the gum into the patient’s jawbone to function just like the root of a natural tooth. This first step is performed by a surgeon. After the implant is placed, and as the surgical site heals, the jawbone will actually grow around and fuse with the implant, creating a very strong base to support a replacement tooth.

- Bone GraftingIn most cases, patients who still have sufficient jaw support are good candidates for dental implants. In some cases, bone grafting procedures may help patients who have already suffered some bone loss receive dental implants, which can halt the resorption process and preserve the remaining bone.
