      McGurk House is a senior independent living retirement community. It serves seniors over the age of 62, and persons under 62 who are mobility impared.The building was completely remodeled in 2006, and has been described as looking like a fine hotel. McGurk House provides many activities and programs for the residents, and a number of outside entertainment groups come regularly.

      At McGurk House, we care about the comfort and happiness of each resident. Our purpose is to provide an affordable, pleasing place to live for those 62 and over, or those applying for an apartment specifically constructed to be accessible to people with physical handicaps.McGurk House is an attractively designed, elevator-equipped retirement community offering one bedroom apartments with full kitchens. Residents furnish their apartments with favorite personal belongings. Emergency Staff response service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.A large community room and kitchen provide space for our residents to entertain and enjoy. Other amenities include comfortable lounge areas, first and third floor laundry facilities, resident library, television room, beauty parlor, and patio area for outdoor recreation and gardening.Beautifully landscaped grounds offer the serenity of a country setting. McGurk House is located near shopping and restaurants and is on the bus line.Persons wishing to reside at McGurk House must have an adjusted income which does not exceed federally established income limits for the Lynchburg area.McGurk House does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, elderliness, familial status or handicap status in the admission or access to and/or treatment or employment in its federally assisted programs and activities.
