- SinusitisSinusitis is an inflammation of the nasal passages that prohibits mucus from draining properly. It is considered chronic when it persists for 12 weeks or longer, and doesn’t respond to medical treatment. Chronic sinusitis is the single biggest chronic health condition in the U.S., affecting some 37 million Americans annually.
- Medical Weight LossIn addition to treatments such as CPAP, doctors recommend lifestyle changes such as weight loss since it can drastically improve breathing during sleep; however, people who are not overweight may have sleep apnea because of their anatomy.
- Pediatric Care
- SnoringCPAP has proven to be an effective treatment for snoring and sleep apnea; however, the device does need to be used every night. Some patients have found the device too constrictive and burdensome. Proper mask fitting and use of a humidifier often help patients use the device consistently.
- Primary CareTreatment for hoarseness often includes rest; however, the condition should be evaluated by a doctor such as a primary care physician, pediatrician or otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist). They will look at the vocal folds with either a mirror or a small, lighted fiber optic scope. If the doctor identifies the cause requires medical intervention, they may treat the cause of the hoarseness with medication or surgery.
- Ear InfectionsOur ENT services offer comprehensive care for conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat including sinus problems, hearing loss, ear infections and snoring. Our ENT physician is board certified in all the medical and surgical aspects of his practice.
- Sleep DisordersSnoring may also be a sign of a serious sleep disorder called obstructive sleep apnea. In this condition, your throat tissues partially or completely block your airway, which prevents you from breathing. Loud snoring followed by periods of silence are common symptoms of sleep apnea.
- ImmunizationsYou can’t always stave off an ear infection, but there are steps you can take to reduce the chances of your child developing one. These include breastfeeding your baby, making sure he or she is up to date on vaccinations, practicing good hygiene (e.g., regular hand washing), keeping your child away from tobacco smoke, and enrolling him/her in as small a daycare or preschool facility as possible. Simply put, fewer children mean fewer germs.
- EndoscopyIn order to diagnose chronic sinusitis, your doctor or ENT specialist will examine you and ask questions about your symptoms and medical history. He or she will visually inspect your nose for polyps and other obstructions, and may use nasal endoscopy or a CT scan for a more in-depth look.
- Thyroid
- X-Rays
- Computed TomographyTo make a diagnosis your doctor will review your medical history and complete a physical exam. An x-ray or CT scan may be needed to get an inside look at your airways. Those with severe symptoms may need to participate in a sleep study. These studies can be completed in a clinic or in the comfort of your own home.
- OtolaryngologyOtolaryngologists are trained in the medical treatment of conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat. Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States, and otolaryngologists are trained to treat conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat.
- RhinoplastyA rhinoplasty can change the size, width, and profile of your nose. It can smooth out depressions or bumps on the bridge, and fix an imperfect nasal tip (one that is too large, droopy, or curves upward). Large or wide nostrils may be reshaped, and a deviated septum can be corrected. Rhinoplasty is a common and safe procedure, but there are risks inherent with any surgery. These include infection, bleeding, pain, bruising, swelling, numbness, nasal asymmetry, skin contour irregularities, and perforations in the nasal septum.

- Nose SurgeryThe nose is a visible organ that protrudes from the face and has different functions. In addition to helping bring air into the lungs, the nose is also responsible for transmitting smells to the brain and preventing large particles from entering the lungs as well as humidifying the air we breathe. When the nose is not working the way it should, a person can experience problems with the sinuses and allergies. Our practice treats problems with the nose and offers procedures to improve the function of the nose. Dr. Abram is also board certified in facial plastic surgery and offers the latest techniques in cosmetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty).
- OtoplastyOtoplasty is a surgical procedure used to correct deformities and defects of the outer portion of the ear. Most candidates seek the surgery because the ears are visibly protruding from the head. The surgery can be performed when the ears reach their full size at age six. This procedure is beneficial to set back the ears so they appear proportionate and contoured from a frontal, rear and side perspective. Dr. Abram is board certified in otoplasty and is available for consultation.
