Established in 1956, the Montclair City Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. It serves Montclair, Calif., which has a population of more than 34,000 residents. The department offers various specialized assignments, such as detective bureau, narcotics investigations task forces, motor officer programs, technical services, red light enforcement officer, school resource officer and safe school zone officer programs. Its investigators interview people, gather documents and evaluate facts related to crimes. It has a community outreach team that sets up crime watch groups, community meetings and business surveys.
