      Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois, also known as LCFS, is a social welfare agency. Founded in 1873, the agency assists families in adopting children domestically and internationally. It also offer free or low-cost small group educational seminars. Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois provides counseling services for various issues, such as prenatal care, parenting skills and living arrangements. The agency offers post-adoption, foster care and crisis counseling services. It conducts workshops and presentation on topics related to family, marriage, parenting, stress and substance abuse. The agency offers a residential center for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. It provides marriage preparation and enrichment, emergency response and family support programs. In addition, the agency operates an academy that serves children between the ages of 5 and 12 with learning disabilities. Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois maintains a location in Mount Vernon, Ill.
