New Driver:We emphasize defensive driving techniques because with minor changes of undertsanding you have made major advances in safety. You will learn fundamentals that will become part of your preprogrammed driving habits. If these simple but essential steps become part of how you drive you will never hear a horn blow while lane changing because you didn'?t see them in your mirror, find out when you get home that you were hit while shopping and the police tell you there is nothing they can do because you left the seen of the accident. Your rights and responsibility are the same. For those of you with disabilities, whether it be Physical, Physiological or physiological and would like to learn to drive or resume driving after a life altering event! I have been working with peoples disabilities for many years. I do my research. I do my best to understand you, your condition, your situation, your history, your interests, and your goals. Frank Palumbo, the original owner of ABC/ACE DRIVING SCHOOL, established for the first time in all of Rhode Island, the opportunity for people with disabilities to drive. He founded this school in 1962 and I have been associated with him since 1982. His vast medical knowledge and ability to create driving mechanisms, and techniques were only superseded by his overwhelming concern for his client's and the goal of improving their quality of life. Technology rules!!! They have equipment to help the physically disabled drive including hand controls, voice activated accessories to zero effort steering and breaking. Elderly Evaluations & Refresher Courses: Regardless of your age, the responsibility of driving correctly is yours and so is keeping your skills up-to-date according to our governmental changes. Most senior citizens have not been tested or trained for fifty plus years. The laws, road conditions, traffic volume, vehicle equipment, and driving techniques change drastically on a yearly bases. So whether you are self-motivated or have been mandated by an authority, we will provide an on road evaluation which cannot be match by any clinical evaluation and provide any necessary documentation to all interested parties. Elderly driving is becoming the center of attention by the media, registry of motor vehicles and government at an alarming pace. State by state, the elderly are being asked to pass vision tests, driving evaluations and in some cases, provide medical records. Back in the day no one passed on the right.
