Established in 1946, the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County is a county government-operated department that offers residential programs for homeless individuals and teens. Located in Pinellas Park, Fla., the department provides advocacy, research analysis, and planning services. It also provides a growth and development program that includes mentoring and support services for youths and children. The Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County offers educational and vocational rehabilitation services. The department operates domestic violence shelters that offer legal advocacy, substance abuse treatment and domestic violence prevention programs. In addition, the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County offers before- and after-school care to children with special needs. The department provides diversion, counseling, psychiatric care, case management and support services.
