I recently purchased a car from Shep's. The buying experience was terrific and the personnel extremely helpful. I actually had a slight problem a few weeks after purchase and I phoned them. Bob took terrific care of the situation and resolved it within hours. These are great people who care tremendously about their product and their customers. Give them a look. Just purchased a 1998 Subaru Outback last week. Spotted the car on line and rode all the way out to Naugauck from Foster, Rhode Island to pick it up. Sales staff was pleasant and all requested repairs (new windshield, headlight housings cleaned, paint touched up) were complete when I went back to pick it up. Unfortunately, I noticed the temperature gauge fluctuating from cool to hot on the way home and, after having two mechanics check it out, I learned that there are exhaust gases and oil in the cooling system - sure signs of a blown head-gasket. Both mechanics agreed that the dealer either would have known about the problem or should have known about it and fixed it. After calling and explaining the problem to the owner, Dean said that he would fix the car if I provided some of the parts (timing belt, water pump ). No loaner was available, so a after a 3 hour drive to drop it off, a week in the shop, and a 3 hour drive to pick it up, it seems to be OK. As they say, buyer beware!!
