Five Star Quality Care operates independent living and congregate care communities, assisted- living facilities and nursing homes. The company operates more than 150 senior living facilities with more than 17,000 separate living units in nearly 30 states, including almost 20 facilities that are managed by Sunrise Senior Living Services. Five Star s facilities offer the following services: independent living, assisted living, social services, recreational activities, long- and short-term care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, respite and hospice care, physical, occupational and speech/language therapy and nutritional support services. Five Star also owns and operates four institutional pharmacies, one of which operates a mail order business. The company s headquarters is in Newton, Mass.
