Business History

Cod & Capers was opened in 1984 by Stephen Gyland. From the very start, we have been dedicated to do our best to offer the freshest and best quality seafood in Palm Beach County. Having been a commercial fisherman with hopes of starting his own business, Steve had a lot of knowledge to bring to the company. We are proud to say that we are still operated by many of our original employees - we are a family! Our passion for fresh seafood did not remain a secret for long - soon, our little tiny seafood market started receiving requests for deliveries from local restaurants. Today, our business consists of a complete wholesale department, a fleet of refrigerated trucks, an expanded retail market, and over 50 employees. We also now employ a full-time chef for our prepared food division and Café. We have grown so much since 1984 but we still focus on quality... that will never change!

We are dedicated to offering the finest high-quality seafood in Palm Beach County. We are proud to have served the community for almost thirty years and strive to have the best seafood in the area. Cod & Capers receives daily deliveries of fresh seafood from all over the world as well as from local fisherman and many domestic fish houses - we have everything from local favorites to unusual exotic items. We are serious about supporting the local fishing industry as well as the overall longevity of fishing worldwide. We offer a variety of sustainable products. Cod & Capers is the only seafood facility in Palm Beach County that is voluntarily inspected by the United States Department of Commerce. We have participated in their voluntary inspection program since 1992. We participate in this program as an extra measure to ensure the safety and quality of the fine products we offer. Cod & Capers Seafood is proud to say that we currently provide fresh seafood to many of the clubs, hotels and restaurants between Miami and Vero Beach. We are located on the west side of U.S. Highway One about 1/2 mile south of P.G.A Boulevard. You can find us in the Crystal Tree Plaza in the large freestanding building.
