- Dental ExaminationAt the office of Dr. Barthman, our number-one concern is providing you with a healthy and beautiful smile. We believe that begins with a complete examination of your mouth. Dental care at Dr. Jean Barthman's office begins with a comprehensive exam. During your first visit, our friendly office staff will examine your mouth for cavities, tooth fractures, and fractured fillings. We will also look at the alignment of your teeth, checking to make sure they are not lining up in a way that could cause health problems such as chronic headaches, sinus pressure, or temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), which could lead to neck and joint pain. X-rays are usually a part of the comprehensive exams; they help us gain an in-depth understanding of your mouth and its health. These are not painful and can be completed quickly. The information we gather in your comprehensive exam allows Dr. Barthman to formulate the best treatment plan to restore your smile.

- FillingsMade of a thin but durable tooth-colored resin, tooth-colored fillings are virtually undetectable and can be used on back teeth. Tooth-colored fillings are bonded to the tooth and require the removal of less tooth structure, adding strength and allowing you to keep more of your natural tooth. Tooth-colored fillings are harder and more durable than amalgam fillings, so they can be expected to last for many years.
- VeneersDr. Barthman’s Las Vegas Institute (LVI) training distinguishes her from other porcelain dental veneers providers in the Redwood City area. Dr. Barthman’s expertise allows her to formulate each patient’s treatment plan in accordance with the patient’s unique needs and goals. Dr. Barthman will work closely with you and recommend the best type of veneers – conventional or prepless – to help you meet your aesthetic goals. We welcome you to contact our cosmetic dentist to learn more about her credentials and services, or to schedule a consultation.
- CrownsAre you missing teeth, or do you have an artificial tooth that won’t stay in place? If so, dental implants may be the solution. At our office in Redwood City, we offer dental implant services to patients in Menlo Park, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Implant dentistry offers patients a stronger and more permanent way of replacing missing teeth than tooth-supported restorations. Made of titanium, dental implants anchor bridges, crowns, and dentures securely to the jawbone. Implant-supported restorations do not slip or slide and can last for many years.
- BridgesWhen an individual loses several teeth but has some natural teeth remaining around the gap, Dr. Barthman may recommend partial dentures (a dental bridge). Partial dentures consist of a replacement tooth connected to two crowns. The crowns cover the teeth adjacent to the gap, creating the "bridge." The beauty of a bridge is that not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but in many cases it also makes chewing and speaking easier.
- Restorative DentistryAs part of her personal commitment to keep up with the latest dental innovations, Dr. Jean Barthman continues to expand her own knowledge and experience. She regularly updates her dental expertise with courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute of Dentistry, where she studies restorative dentistry, advanced cosmetic procedure, full mouth reconstruction, and neuromuscular dentistry.
- DenturesNow available at our practice in Redwood City, Denture Fountain of Youth® and FOY® Dentures are the new, non-surgical alternative to facelift surgery for denture wearers. These innovative dentures are a remarkable way to provide structural support to your facial features, restore full function to your mouth, rejuvenate your smile, and highlight the natural beauty of your face.
- Dental ImplantsA dental implant is a tiny titanium post surgically placed in the jawbone, where it functions as the tooth's root. An abutment is attached to the implant and serves as an anchor for the appropriate dental restoration. The complete apparatus stays securely in place and looks and feels just like a natural tooth.
- OrthodonticsWith Invisalign®, patients who have crooked teeth, gaps between the teeth, and other minor orthodontic problems can have their teeth straightened without braces. The Invisalign® system uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gradually position the teeth. The aligners are removable, so patients can brush and floss with ease and still enjoy all their favorite foods. The comfortable, virtually invisible aligners make Invisalign® a highly discreet method for realigning the teeth, and a particularly popular option in adult orthodontics.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsFor patients with orthodontic problems – crowded, crooked teeth, gaps between the teeth, and other bite problems –Invisalign® can be an ideal way to straighten the teeth. Invisalign® works through a series of aligners that gradually move the teeth into their proper alignment. Since the aligners are removable, comfortable, and practically invisible, Invisalign® treatment is the most convenient orthodontic treatment available.
- BracesHave you always dreamed of having beautiful straight teeth, but don’t want to go through the pain and hassle of metal braces? If you answered yes, Invisalign® may be perfect for you. The Invisalign® system uses a series of clear plastic aligners to straighten the teeth. Dr. Jean Barthman is trained and certified to provide Invisalign®, and has achieved incredible results for her Invisalign® patients. If you live in Redwood City, Palo Alto, San Mateo, Menlo Park, or another area near our office, Dr. Barthman can use Invisalign® to help you achieve the flawless smile you have always wanted.
- Teeth WhiteningAs part of our commitment to beautiful smiles, we offer one of the most effective teeth whitening procedures available – the BriteSmile® in-office teeth whitening system. With BriteSmile® teeth whitening, patients in Redwood City as well as Palo Alto, San Mateo, and surrounding communities can have whiter teeth in just a few hours. This is because the BriteSmile® teeth whitening treatment uses a combination of formulated lighting and hydrogen peroxide gel to whiten teeth – typically by six to nine shades – in one visit to our dental spa. If you would like a quick way to dramatically improve your smile, teeth whitening may be just the solution.
