Where to get quality Flags (and holders)

I am like many Americans, I like to fly an American flag in front of my home. I also fly the flag of the United States Army beside and just below it. You always fly the American flag above the rest, that is the protocol.

Most people buy their flags where they can, at Lowe's or Home Depot, and you get a cheap flag that after a few months starts to fray and look like crap.

This past weekend, Mrs C and I were on our regular Saturday errand running, when we decided to go a little further east than usual, down Rt. 222 South of Reading, to the exit past Gouglersville, for Knauers. We had to backtrack a little onto Old Lancaster Pike, and at the top of the hill above the village of Reinholds, we visited the American Flag Shoppe. The address is

2124 Old Lancaster Pike, Reinholds PA, 17569.

They also have a website, at http://www.americanflagshoppe.com/

It is not the biggest store in the world, in fact it is in a converted house on a cliff side overlooking the new highway, but it is operated by a couple, a woman who served in the Air Force, and her husband, who served in the Army.

This store not only sells quality flags, but also 6 and 8 foot flagpoles and assorted holders and mounting brackets. Not the cheap stuff either, good heavy reinforced metal ones. They also sell all weather aluminum poles that look like wood. I purchased one for my garage, as well as a new 3' x 5' flag to fly from it. When I put it up, it looked great in the Saturday afternoon sun.

(They also offer installation of standard flagpoles, but you might want to check zoning codes in your municipality before getting one)

For all you folks looking for certain flags, they had Democrat and Republican party flags, as well as the historic "don't tread on me" flag that many people like. They have flags from the branches of military service, as well as a collection of various yard and seasonal flags.

The selection and quality far surpassed any I had seen in a big box store, or even many local novelty stores. Oh, and do you want high quality heavy fabric bunting for decorating at political rallies? They have the really good stuff.

I spent more than $50 bucks there, and I received no compensation for writing this post. The owners have no idea i am writing this. I am just sharing that I found a great place to get quality flags for like minded individuals.

So if you need a flag, check it out. The hours are daytime, and they are only open until 2 PM on Saturday.
