v To provide a broad range of programs and services to assist the Membership Department of St. Johns County v To increase the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce membership base through recruitment of new members. v To assist in orientation of new members and maximum retention of existing members of the Chamber through v To make a difference in the community in which we live, and, at the same time, enhance our own business exposure. To work closely with the St. Johns County School District to provide more knowledge in the schools of what the business community is doing as well as trying to ensure that the students of St. Johns County are adequately prepared upon graduation to successfully function in the workplace. Area Business Councils ensure the Chamber's ability to address the localized opportunities and challenges unique to each part of our county. Each area business council has an elected board and general membership made up exclusively of Chamber members with a professional or general interest in a particular geographically defined area ( such as Historic St. Augustine, South Beaches, Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, US 1/SR 312 Corridor ). Through regularly scheduled meetings, each council ensures that Chamber member businesses have a voice in matters involving governmental policies and legislation, special event planning, public works and infrastructure, or any other area that may impact their ability to successfully conduct business. Historic St. Augustine Area Council The Historic St. Augustine Area Council meets monthly to address issues within the historic district such as historic preservation, tourism, and business growth. Northeast Business Council The Northeast Business Council's goal is to focus on economic development issues and acts as a liaison with the county government and staff. Through a partnership with a regional Chamber of Commerce, the council works to provide its members networking opportunities and educational programs. Northwest Business Council The Northwest Business Council strives to create a presence for the growing Northwest area and increase their visibility throughout other areas of the county. South Beaches Business Council The South Beaches Business Council is comprised of nearly 200 chamber member living or working in the South Beaches area. The council is characterized by their dedication to community efforts and advocacy for local business issues. Southwest Business Council The Southwest Business Council is growing and building an identity in the Hastings area, including Elkton, Spuds and Vermont Heights. They are active in the building, development and revitalization of the area. US 1/SR 312 Business Council The US 1/SR 312 Business Council is the newest of the councils. It was formed to give members along the US 1/SR 312 corridor a louder voice with the Chamber and community and tackle issues unique to that area. Membership: Open to any member with a professional or general interest in the respective area The EDC Action Committees are formed of key EDC members. The Action Committees assist the EDC Chairman and Staff in achieving their recruitment, retention, government affairs, and membership goals. There are four Action Committees: Advisory Council ( open only to top tiered members: Visionary, Benefactor, Trustee & Elite )
