- The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department maintains the Botanical Garden and Conservatory, River Walk, HemisFair Park, Tower of the Americas, as well as other historic facilities, such as La Villita, the Spanish Governor's Palace and Market Square. The department, located in San Antonio, also maintains more than 200 city-owned parks, including swimming pools, gymnasiums, cemeteries, sports fields, recreation centers and municipal golf facilities. Additionally, it operates the city's recreational and cultural programs. The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of activities, ranging from soccer league matches to dance classes and swimming lessons. Its dance classes for youth include jazz and hip-hop, tap, ballet, Afro-Brazilian dance, Mexican folkloric and Spanish flamenco. The department also offers tumbling, percussion, guitar, keyboard, drawing, painting and pottery classes.
