      General Info
      Dr. Tipps is a California native, educated at Pomona College, Claremont, CA (B.A. in Chemistry/Zoology). She received her M.D. at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA, and completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency also at VCU/MCV. Upon completion of residency training, she returned to California where she was in private practice in a private pathology laboratory and medical director at SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories; and practiced anatomic and clinical pathology at Palomar Medical Center, Pomerado Hospital, and Tri-City Medical Center. She began practicing at UCSD in the Dept. of Pathology in late 2000, and joined the faculty in 2001 as an Associate Clinical Professor.{line break}She is interested in a variety of topics in surgical pathology and cytopathology, and currently subspecializes in gastrointestinal and liver pathology as well as general cytopathology. She has extensive experience in gynecologic cytopathology. She enjoys residency training and working with medical students, and serves on the Residency Committee in the Dept. of Pathology as well as the Recruitment and Admissions Committee for the UCSD School of Medicine.
