      Well, alright, maybe it sums up only the beginning of the story. In December, 1977, two young, Wisconsin runners, Carl Brandt and Rick Vandertie, departed the frigid cold of Wisconsin for the sunny climes of San Diego, or rather Mission Beach to be more precise. Bringing with them plenty of youthful energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of running - but little business experience - they searched for locations to open their new store. And they needed to find it quickly since that same youthful enthusiasm already had a shipment of Nike shoes on order, but no place for it to be delivered. Over the following months and years, their reputation in the San Diego running community grew as they worked with groups, coached athletes and put on events. They even sold merchandise from the back of their car at local races and group runs. Through this kind of ingenuity, hard work and pure love for the sport, Carl and Rick built the original store into three of the most respected, knowledgeable, customer-service driven specialty running shops found anywhere in the greater San Diego area. For more than 30 years, Movin Shoes has been a store for runners, founded by runners, employed by runners, and dedicated to runners - and we are pretty darn good with walkers, too.
