Steven M. Dorros, MD, is a board-certified radiologist with subspecialty training in neuroradiology. His clinical focus is on imaging the brain and spine to better understand and treat a variety of conditions, including back pain, sports injuries, malignancies and epilepsy. Dr. Dorros is medical director of UC San Diego Healths outpatient https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/radiology/mri/Pages/default.aspx and director of its teleradiology services, which provide expert second opinions and case reviews for community-based practices that do not offer specialized consultative health care. His team is also involved in philanthropic radiology services. As a professor in the Department of Radiology, Dr. Dorros instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is also involved in Alzheimers research, specifically MRI-based volumetric studies of the brain, used to evaluate locations of brain atrophy and disease progression.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2007, he was chairman of radiology at Tri-City Medical Center in San Diego County, where he helped to develop the hospital's outpatient radiology suites, mammography center and cardiovascular rehabilitation center.He completed fellowship training in neuroradiology and angiography at Montefiore Hospital and Morrisania Hospital in New York. He completed residency training in diagnostic radiology and earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr. Dorros is board-certified in general radiology.
