      My daughter has been attending the Waldorf School of San Diego kindergarten for a year and a half now. Her classmates, their families and her teacher and assistant are truly her extended family now. Her teacher knows her intimately as a grandmother would and nurtures her natural inclinations while giving her the structure and discipline she requires to have her own sense of will. While my daughter at age 5 and a half is not engaged in the traditional pre academic studies that some children her age have in their curriculum in kindergartens traditionally she can sing dozens of songs and recite long poems easily from her memory. Her classroom is beautiful with natural fabrics and handmade toys, the smell of organic grains and soup simmering and with a special reverence for the natural world with seasonal bouquets and planting projects. She spends a good amount of time out of doors in the yard and in the gardens. I feel her time at thisl school will reap benefits for her entire lifetim
