I recently called Porter Heat & Air to come look at my air conditioning unit when it stopped blowing cold air. They reported to me that there was no freon in the system and they would fill it and inspect for leaks. They put 5 lbs of freon in (equating to $325 in freon) before discovering the leak. At this point they told me it would cost $1000 for them to *try* to fix, but no work was guaranteed and I was given the impression that the fix would not work for long if at all. Their other option was to replace my WHOLE heat AND air system for only $4500! I paid them for the work they had already done and sent them on their way.I called and got a second opinion from a different company who locates leaks without using freon (so I could have saved myself $400!!), and they told me I only needed to replace the AC unit since the heater is still working fine. Luckily that's another $1000 I don't have to spend.And when I called to discuss my concerns with Jeanette, co owner and person over customer service, she treated me poorly and was so unprofessional to the point where she yelled at me during one of our three conversations. If you need any AC work done, look else where.
