This is such a great center. Peter, the owner, is very approachable and truly knows his stuff. His teachers are extremely nice, personable and very caring. My son started at this center in January 2008 because he was having great difficulty with reading at the first grade level. All his other subjects were off the charts. However, since he was not doing well in reading, the school wanted to hold him back. We did not feel that was the answer, so we enrolled him into Sylvan.With four hours of tutoring a week since January - give and take a couple of hours for vacations, holidays, etc. - he is a different kid. He finished first grade feeling much more confident about his reading ability having learned great reading skills. We continued with his tutoring over the summer months. My son entered second grade two weeks ago and I cannot tell you how happy we all are with the difference. He loves going to second grade, he is reading at a second grade level without any difficulty.Ursula in CT

Before I started coming to Sylvan, I had some trouble writing essays. I learned that I needed to take the time to organize my thoughts prior to composing my essay. Every sentence used to start with they or the. Now, I have learned to incorporate words that will help my essay flow. I know that Sylvan Learning Center has helped a lot. It is much easier to write now. I feel as thought I can easily write what I am thinking. The very helpful staff at Sylvan Learning Center helped us with any questions that I had. When Danny first enrolled at Sylvan, his reading level was 3rd grade 6th month. Danny was in the middle of 5th grade at the time. After 36 hours of instruction, we began to see marked improvement. By 108 instructional hours, his total reading score was 8th grade 7th month and Danny was now at the end of 5th grade.
