INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE. Replacing an ignitor cost me 581. Diagnostic time 5 minutes - cost 149. A $40 part and 10 min of time cost $421. I understand the concept of service calls but you might want to shop around. I think 300 would have been a much more a fair price.

Go with an HVAC company that publishes their hourly rates. These guys work from a "maintenance menu" and charge exorbitant fees for a classification of service.I asked them to come to my home to work on my broken furnace. They were prompt, however, after the diagnosis, they wanted to charge me 932 dollars to replace a 200 dollar part. The part was plug and play and would take twenty minutes to install.Why wouldn't they charge an hourly rate? I kicked them out of my home after they tried to then upsell me to buy a new furnace for 4,000 dollars. How stupid do they think their customers are?? I ordered the part that was bad off the internet with overnight shipment and replaced it myself.Go with a provider that charges by the hour, not one that treats you like you are too stupid to know better.

I have had two experiences with Vernon - both horrible.In the first instance, I phoned them for emergency service. As of three days later, and two scheduled appointments later, I still had not seen a repairman.Foolishly, I tried once more a few months later - only because they had initially installed the system that required repair. This time they showed up promptly, and proceeded to quote me over $1000 for a repair consisting of less than a foot of copper pipe, 3 $1 connectors, and what should have been 30-45 minutes of soldering.Needless to say, I sent them away after paying the $130 service charge - $130 dollars that paid for them to tell me what I already knew and to quote an insane, truly insane, price for a 45 minute job that they were going to have to come back to do.As consumers, we should not stand for this sort of usury. I shouldn't have to join a club or service plan to get a tradesman to show up to perform work, and I certainly won't pay an outrageous sum.
