The best decision I ever made!

My son blossomed at this school. The school is extraordinarily warm and nurturing but still has high academic expectations. My son is confident, curious, and most importantly he LOVES school and gets excited about learning. I started him there at two years, and now, as he gets ready for middle school I really consider Long Ridge the best decision I ever made.

DETAILS
General Info
Established in 1938, the school offers a rich, challenging and joyful educational experience for early childhood and elementary school children. In addition to core academics taught in small groups by classroom teachers, LRS students attend classes with specialists in Spanish, science, art, music, library and physical education. The Beginners program offers a warm introduction to school for our youngest students. In small classes of 8 with two teachers, children learn to separate from their primary caregivers as they begin to make new friends and develop new concepts. In Nursery, the developmental range of young children is accomodated in small multi-age classes of 3s and 4s. A theme-based curriculum organizes the nursery program, encouraging students to make connections across disciplines and develop their thoughtfulness, creativity and skills as they prepare for kindergarten. The elementary school program is based on the premise that learning can be challenging and rigorous, while still being joyful, engaging and personally meaningful. Children graduate fifth grade well-prepared for the challenges of middle school with confidence, a strong sense of self and a passion for learning.
