Don't waste your money. Look around, my daughter was here for 2 years. Disorganization, high coach turnover and safety concerns. Fed up with the promises of change and things "coming soon" we moved on and found another home. I wish there would have been reviews to read before we wasted so much time, money and energy :(

My son was one of the first members of the boys team. It was wonderful to see the program grow from just three boys to over 20. We have a a lot of good times, some really frustrating times, a lot of complaints and a lot of compliments. I found that mostly issues were addressed. The owner xi qui was always ready to listen and try to address concerns. Yes my son went through about five different coaches, but if you look at the history of the coaches, they also moved from gym to gym frequently. It's a business and personal decision. We have learned over the years that every gym has it's share of problems. We did leave this gym because of a personality conflict with the coach and my son. The bottom line is that it wouldn't have mattered what language he spoke, if my son was happy, we would still be there. I wish LGC boys all the best. They are a super bunch of kids. I'm sure with consistent coaching they will once again be make state champions! problems.

Just came across these reviews in my search for a gym in the northern Virginia area, I am appalled. Throwing objects at students is a "joke?" Can you imagine what would happen to our county teachers if they threw something at their students as a joke? The parents would be up in arms, and that teacher would be disciplined. Why are parents defending the actions of this coach? Why should it be any different? As far as having other gymnasts "translate" what a coach is saying, once again I am befuddled. WHY on WHY would you be paying money to a gym, for other kids to translate for your child? This sport costs way too much money, and there are other great gyms in the area where your child would definitely be able to communicate with his or her coach. This gym has a bad reputation among other gyms in the area. Evidently it is a well-deserved "bad rap!" I will take my daughter elsewhere!

Bottom line, it's a for profit business. As much as you may want to think the owners are your family they are not. They are trying to make money just like any other business. To bring in coaches who are unable to communicate with the children is unacceptable and it is NOT my job as a paying customer to "find a way" for my child to communicate high level dangerous skills with their coach! That is 100% the gyms responsibility and if they don't they are completely irresponsible and liable for any injury that may occur. If any parent is OK with putting their child at risks, go for it! Good luck to the employees and owners! I can tell you right now, a lot of the moms group in my community wouldn't step foot any where near this place just from their experience with their summer camps alone!!!

After reading through these reviews, I find it very sad that parents are making such a big deal out of the language barrier...did you (parents) try to help find a solution to help the boys and coach communicate? The shoe throwing incident was done in FUN not frustration. I know that disrespect from some of the boys was also an issue with the coach. This I witnessed myself and was thoroughly appalled that they would behave the way they were. Communication is not as big an issue as it is being made out to be, there are parents and children that help with translation when it is necessary. As for coaches putting in notice and having to leave without working it out, that is the ultimate decision of any business, they are not required to let you work a two week notice at all. And I wouldn't want a coach whose mindset is elsewhere coaching my kids and believe they made the right choice. I completely support LGC and it's coaches.

I too have a boy on team and while it has been difficult to adjust to different coaches, I believe the gym has made an honest effort to regroup and rebuild. My son has never had any negative experiences with the coaches and he loves being at the gym. I could leave him there all day and he would be happy. Good luck to the boys at states! We also support the gym and the owners and hope to again build a successful team.

Bravo! Let's all move forward and wish all of the gymnasts at Loudoun and elsewhere the best! Every parent can decide which facility is best for their child.

OK... Let me rephrase. He did give notice but the gym decided to have him leave immediately because his focus was already elsewhere. It doesn't really matter in the end. The outcome was the same. We wish the boys who remain at LGC a great rest of the season. We wish those who left all the best.

I have had a son on the gymnastics team at LGC for a few years and although we have had some disappointments, such as our coach leaving without notice before our first meet this season, the gym is not unsafe. The owners are supportive of the team and care about the safety of all of the gymnasts. They unfortunately have to deal with coaches who just up and leave with no notice and it then reflects poorly on them as they try to recover and get things back in order. We now have a very good coach. Yes, he does not speak English very well (try finding a Korean tae kwon doe instructor who can do any better!) but he is learning and is an excellent coach. My son was the object of the "shoe throwing" which is now such a non-issue. After speaking with the coach, we understood that it was meant as a playful joke and not what everyone else is making it out to be. My son is over it and everyone else should be too. We fully support the gym and its efforts to build a great team.

Language is not a barrier. We had 4 chinese gymnasts from China stay with a few of our host famillies and not one of them were unhappy. they all learned to communicate and get along. Try living in another country. They don't speak english and you still get your message across. This is absolutely rediculous to think this way! Many gyms have Russian, Ukranian, and chinese coaches. I don't know two harder working coaches than the ones at our gym. Their english language has come a long way! They truly love the children. Take a step back and watch the coaches with the children. I am a very happy parent and am glad the parents that are leaving are going as they are the trouble ones anyway.

This is so sad that parents are stooping this low to comment on the language that is spoken at the gym. Look at the positives that athe gym has to offer. I guarentee you that if you go to many other gyms, you will find coaches that speak many languages. Language is not the barrier. It is the parent that has the problem with it, not the child. We at Loudoun are very lucky to have a great relationship with our coaches. many gyms tell parents to drop their child off and you can only meet with the coach once or twice a year. The coaching staff at LGC has only improved with the addition of the new coaches. Everyone is adding to the gym to make this the best experience for the child. It is so dishearting to know parents are writing about the "language". I do understand the leaving of a coach is difficult. Remember, there are always 2 sides to the story and you may not know all the information. We are lucky to have the staff we have. We are here to stay!!

I just have to comment about the poster who made the disparraging remark about "competing gyms." I don't think ANYONE is encouraging everyone to leave Loudoun and join this particular gym. Everyone needs to find a place the fits your child and the coaching staff. I do know that many of us had given Loudoun years to try to put a great program in place. Sadly, it did not happen... and then they got rid of the coaches who positively influenced our children, replaced them with coaches who did not speak English. Now it's happened again. I do agree that the best program they HAD was the boys' team. That coach was a positive invluence on his team, he was a great all around guy, and truly cared for those boys (as well as taught them fantastic skills). I know he has landed safely at another gym, and I'm hoping the same for all the boys. Loudoun really needs to get it together for their team programs.

Sadly, the only program that was worth noting, their boys team, is now in jeopardy because this gym is very talented at scaring away great coaches. The boys team won states after one year, but now their coach is gone and has been replaced by a non english speaking gentleman. We too have looked for and found a better situation for our son, and it is no longer with Loudoun. Best of luck and warm wishes to their old coach.

Well, they've done it again! Hired more coaches who don't speak English. It doesn't matter how great the coaches are if they can't communicate with their gymnasts. We will be looking around.

My family has had a completely different experience with Loudoun Gymnastics. My son is doing very well on the boys team (who incidentally won the state title their first year out). I've witnessed the most positive interactions between coaches and gymnasts that parents can only dream of. Yeah, we want our kids to be great gymnasts, and they are (their record shows it) but my son has learned so much more about how to learn and work at something hard and set goals, deal with disappointments and come back stronger that I'm confident his involvement with this sport and gym have put him on a path to success in any endeavor he chooses. His work ethic is running on all cylinders, and his grades are great! We couldn't be happier. I felt it was my duty to sing Loudoun's praises amidst all of these obviously strategically placed negative comments posted by members of competing gyms whose name shall not be mentioned and whose desperate attempts to discredit a great organization are shameful.

Couldn't agree with you more, our child was there for about a year. Complete mad house, the owners are nice but nickle and dime you. I worry about the safety of the children in that place especially Saturday morning - they pack that gym with way too many kids!
