Any New York Times bestseller has at least one million copies printed and is already for sale online for $1. In our store we only price them at $5 or $6. With overhead, $1 is what the store can pay for such a book and remain in business. We are sad that often we have to disappoint people by telling them the low or nonexistent monetary value of a book they bring in. So the person is correct, this is not the best place to sell bestsellers, but may be the best place to buy them. Friendly is in the eye of the beholder. Could you be reacting to not getting offered as much as you wanted for the book? Or he could have just been having a humanly bad day.
