Money And King Funeral Home And Cremation Services

General Info
Money & King Funeral Home has been family owned and operated since its conception. Founded by Howard A. Money, a cabinetmaker. On Church Street in Vienna, Virginia in 1881, Money & King Funeral Home has been the oldest business in the community. Mr. Money died in December 1931 after celebrating 50 years of operation. Mrs. Ella A. Money, Mr. Money wife operated the business after his death until her death in 1946. Francis Howard King, grandson of Howard A. and Ella A. Money, began operating the funeral home. He married the former Edith A. Masters in 1934 and with his wife; Mr. King bought property and began constructing the present funeral home in 1948. Money & King Funeral Home, located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Lawyers Road, was the first two story commercial building in Vienna. No doubt one of the first funeral homes built as one instead of converting an existing home. Mr. King died in 1951 three months after completion. Upon the death of Mr. King, his widow Edith A. King and Gertrude V. Money, aunt of Francis H. King continued the tradition. This created a milestone in the fact that not only was the business owned by two women but there had been no thought of it not remaining within the family. As you can see, dedication and loyalty are the cornerstones of Money & King Funeral Home. The business was managed by Dewitt "Dee" Crickenberger, a friend of Francis King and brother-in-law of Edith King.
