General Info
Ivy League started in 1986 as a child day care to aide working parents. It was purchased by Tony and Shirley Dimino in 1989, and became a Christian preschool and kindergarten. In 1993 the Pembroke Manor House was purchased and the academy was born. The primary purpose of the school is to train the student in the knowledge of God and the Christian way of life, and to provide each student with a solid academic foundation. Dr. Benjamin Rush, author of the first American chemistry textbook, and signer of the Declaration of Independence once said of education, "I believe no man was ever instructed in the truths of the Bible without having been made wiser or better by the early operation of these impressions upon his mind." Many of the graduate students' parents comment on the strong foundation formed at the school and how it remains with the child throughout their learning years. The academics are challenging, and each student is encouraged to work to the highest of his ability. Affording students a higher education on the elementary school level, the classes remain small. The teachers are of a high caliber and are educationally prepared to give their students a thorough scholastic background, realizing their accountability before God as a teacher.
