The Washington Daily News local newspaper has not always been known by that name. The newspaper had its beginning as the Washington Gazette in 1872. When J.A. Arthur and his son bought it in 1886, the newspaper s name was changed to the Evening Messenger. In 1907, the paper was sold for a second time and renamed the Daily Messenger. In its fourth sale in 1913, the Washington Daily News took on its present name. The newspaper offers local and world news, sports, classifieds, opinion, health and entertainment sections. Washington Daily News is located in Washington, N.C.
