Jefferson Community College, located in Watertown, N.Y., offers a range of educational and extracurricular programs for students. The college is one of more than 60 campuses and over 25 community colleges that comprise the State University of New York system. The institution is sponsored by Jefferson County, and its service area is largely rural, with agriculture and tourism the dominant industries. It educates more than 1,800 full-time and over 1,700 part-time students annually. The college, apart from the usual subjects, also offers a variety of workshops, seminars and workforce training opportunities. Cultural events, open to the public, include film and theatrical events, lectures, seminars, and art exhibitions.
