General Info

It is my goal to show patients that our office provides a safe, comfortable way to have their dental work done whether they’re a high-fear patient who hasn’t been to the dentist for 20 years, a patient who’s finally ready to get that new smile, or someone who simply wants to prevent cavities and gum disease. One of the things I love about being a dentist is learning about research and new techniques and then applying them to my patients’ care. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, I am required to attend many additional continuing education classes in all aspects of dentistry. I’ve gone beyond this to the next level when I received my Fellowship in the AGD in 1996. Sedation dentistry is one of the unique areas I have studied as well. We are able to help patients who are very afraid of dental care and those who want to complete years of needed work in a few comfortable visits. For patients, the best thing about sedation dentistry is they don’t remember anything that happened in the chair and most everyone is able to go back to work the next day. I’ve taken advanced training in sedation and received a Fellowship in the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation in 2007. I was also fortunate to learn about the early research into microscopes for dentistry. In 1982, I became one of the first dentists to use a microscope in a full-time private practice. I am a member and historian for the international Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry. I grew up in Olympia, Washington, and have lived in Kenmore for over 30 years. Liz, my wife, is a kindergarten teacher at Brookside Elementary in Lake Forrest Park. Kristin, my daughter, is an architect who’s back in school at Portland State getting a mechanical engineering degree. Craig, my son, is a pharmacist at the Tualatin Community Hospital in Hillsborough, Oregon. He takes care of the hospital ICU and PCU.

Made me so comfortable

I have always had a lot of anxiety when it comes to the dentist. But at Dr Travis' office I feel so comfortable and at home. They treat me like family.
