Founded in 1965, the Blackstone Valley Community Action Program, also known as BVCAP, is a nonprofit agency that offers a variety of housing assistance, homebuyer advocacy and educational programs for low-income individuals and families. It employs a staff of more than 50 people who serve over 12,000 families annually. The agency provides career, social skills and character development programs for youths up to the age of 18. The Blackstone Valley Community Action Program also offers case management and retirement assistance services for senior citizens. It provides GED preparation classes, job readiness workshops, leadership development activities and occupational skills training sessions. It assists in the installation, repair and maintenance of windows, boilers and ventilators. The Blackstone Valley Community Action Program is located in Pawtucket, R.I.
