The Community Learning Center provides free services to the residents of Cambridge, Mass., who need basic education, English language and employment skills. It offers opportunities to citizens who want to learn English, improve basic reading, writing, and math skills and learn to use computers. The center serves more than 1,000 individuals annually and conducts morning, afternoon and evening classes. The Community Learning Center administers the Cambridge Prevention Coalition that offers substance abuse prevention services to youth, parents and health care professionals. It additionally offers housing search and casework services to homeless and at-risk individuals and families. The center supports a commission for human services programs that advises city manager on human services policy issues and funding allocations.
