The staff is very rude. We tried calling for carry out on 2 Friday's in a row. When we went to the restaurant to order they were not busy at all. The staff was very smug when we asked why no one answered the phone. The food is good at this restaurant, but the staff's attitude is a major turnoff.

Read reviews, decided to try for myself since I'm of Italian Heritage and my grandmother had an Italian Restaurant. Pizza was Better than most Pizza Chains. Ravilola were good. Disappointed when I asked if the Meatballs were homemade, they said , no, so I didn't try them> My Grandmother always said you have to have a Great Meat Sauce and Great Meatball, Any one can boil Pasta. The Waitresses were Polite and Checked on you often. When I return to visit Family again, I will try some of there Specials, like the Linguini & Clam Sauce. Until then, I do reccomend them .

Probably the best Italian food you can get in the area. It seems like it is family owned and ran, so they may be reluctant to hire additional help. This is unfortunate because the service tends to lag behind the demand, especially if you go when it's busy. It's probably best to get your food as carry-out.

We eat dinner at Cummares two or three times a month. The food is always delicious, fresh and homemade. The prices are very competitive with restaurants in the area.

I would never recommend this restaurant. The customer service was so bad. Our waitress argued with me and insulted me when I made a complaint about the entire staff taking a 45 minute break for their own lunch when paying customers were still at tables and needed service. She insisted in getting the last word in and did not make any attempt to make the customer happy. You could not pay me to eat at this place again. It ruined my day. I will never go back.

The food was tasty, but a bit expensive for the area. However, the staff was unprofessional and left a bad tast in my mouth.

Horrible service. Rude waitstaff.

We were ignored by the waitress for over 1/2 hour mid-meal. She didn't even ask to refill our drinks or ask us if we wanted dessert. To make things worse, she made it a point to actually insult me when I complained about the wait. Then started yelling in Italian to the rest of the staff about "this horrible woman." Far be it for anyone else to try and make sure we (the customers) were satisfied. The worst service I have every had, anywhere.

Highly recommended. Best Italian food in Southern Illinois. All pasta is homemade and delicious. Best ceasar's salad I have ever had.

Very good authentic Italian food. It is nice that they deliver. Prices are good for the money. They could use more space and the use of good bread, linen table clothes, and nicer dining plates would give the place a huge boost.

The absolute best Italian food in the area. Every time I have been there the service was good and the food was great. They even make a good pizza.

The worst experience I've ever had! Cummares doesn't really deserve a whole star. I ordered garlic bread and a salad. When I got my salad it didn't match the description on the menu, and it didn't have much other than a lot of dressing and handful of the part of the lettuce that was hard and white (the core). The plain garlic bread I ordered had a thick layer of cheese that I couldn't eat, and even though I didn't or couldn't eat anything, I was charged. My husband had a meatball sandwich that was below average. Customer service was beyond horrible.
